Firm History
Edge Wealth Management, LLC ("Edge") was founded by Matt Weinberg and Doug Spitz in the fall of 2006. We are a registered investment advisor (“RIA”) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. As an RIA, we are a fiduciary using a fee-based model as opposed to a commission-based platform. We recommend that clients use Charles Schwab & Co, Inc. (member SIPC) and its affiliates (“Schwab”) to serve as broker-dealer and custodian for their managed accounts. Edge caters to a combination of high-net-worth investors, institutions, family offices, and young professionals striving to meet each of their unique financial needs and goals. Our objective is to maximize investment returns while preserving capital via diversification and risk management, with an emphasis on income generation, growth, and tax efficiency.
Our philosophy at Edge demands extensive institutional and capital markets experience of our team. We believe that our investing expertise enables us to be nimble and opportunistic, and to help identify potential pitfalls in the markets. We are not constrained by an asset allocation model or inflexible investment strategies. We have a team approach in laying out our investment process and strategy with a micro, sector and macro view on the markets and the economy.
Given our capital markets experience and contacts, Edge has an extensive network of counterparties (such as boutique regional dealers and market makers) to access a variety of fixed income products at competitive prices. As a wealth manager we also offer limited financial planning as well as education, counsel and information about insurance and estate planning needs to our client base. We consider these to be important components of prudent long-term planning.
Using Schwab as their account custodian, our clients enjoy transparency and accessibility to their funds. Schwab’s user-friendly approach and web access allows clients to view e-confirms, holdings, market prices, history, cost basis, tax information and reporting.
